Kitty Bast creates characters that reappear and reside in a place where things are not as they should be. They each have a name and their own identity or protection marks upon the body, they are often found in scenes of ambiguity for the viewer to unravel. Each piece of work is like a window with a view into the characters world.
I am aware of the boundaries of language. Art gives us a way to release what lives inside our head.
Awarded at the Khojaly Peace Prize for work in the exhibition & ceremony held at the Houses of Parliament, London (Work in collections). Exhibited work with ‘Venture Arts‘ at Manchester’s Water Palace, Victoria Baths. Selected by Tape Modern and Scaffold Gallery. Artist in ’Art Battle Manchester’ x2, on BBC One. Made work at Manchester’s ’Sick! Festival’.
Also a Tattoo Artist and Studied BA & MA Fine Art at The Manchester School of Art, UK.
Fully immersed in a Fine Art practice in her studio, Kitty decided to take her self and her art to the digital space.
